Blasts in S. Russia kill at least 2, injure 14

    MOSCOW, Feb. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- At least two people were killed and 14 others injured on Thursday in blasts that ripped through gambling establishments in a southern Russian city, police said.

    Two explosions rocked slot machine halls in downtown Vladikavkaz, regional capital of the North Caucasus republic of North Ossetia, killing two people and injuring at least 14 others, police were quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying.

    People were evacuated from all gambling establishments in the city, which were cordoned off and were being checked for explosive devices, police said.

    Earlier, Interfax quoted a local law enforcement source as saying there had been three explosions in the city. Enditem
