CHENGDU, Feb. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Southwest China's
Sichuan Province reported significant rises in the per capita incomes of urban
and rural residents in 2005, a latest report on the local economic development
said.
In 2005 the per capita net income of local farmers
reached 2,800 yuan (350 U.S. dollars), up 8.6 percent year-on-year, it said.
In the meantime, the per capita disposable income of
the urbanites averaged 8,386 yuan (1,048 U.S. dollars), up 8.8 percent
year-on-year.
In the past five years, the province created 2.3
million new jobs in the urban areas and helped 1.51 million laid-off workers
find employment.
The registered urban unemployment rate was 4.6
