Alito sworn in as US Supreme Court justice

    WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- Samuel Alito was sworn in as a U.S. Supreme Court justice on Tuesday after Senate confirmed him earlier in the day.

    Alito became the 110th member of the Supreme Court in US history, replacing Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, a moderate conservative who retired. Enditem
