BAGHDAD, Jan. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Anchorman Bob Woodruff and cameraman Doug Vogt of the U.S. ABC television network were seriously injured Sunday when the Iraqi military vehicle they were riding in was hit by a roadside bomb, reports said.

Both men sustained head injuries and broken bones. They were described as in stable condition after surgery at a U.S. military hospital in Iraq.

The blast happened near Taji, about 19 km north of Baghdad.

They were wearing body armor, helmets and protective glasses but were standing up in the hatch of the mechanized vehicle when the device exploded, exposing them to shrapnel, reports said.

An Iraqi solder was also injured in the blast. Enditem
