ISLAMABAD, Jan. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- A passenger train
derailed into a ravine near the Jhelum city, about 100 kilometers northeast of
Islamabad on Sunday.

non-stop train was heading to the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore from
Rawalpindi, some 30 kilometers south of Islamabad, according to the APP news
agency and other press reports reaching here. The cause of the derailment was
not immediately known.
The APP news agency quoted the Traffic Office of
Pakistan Railway as saying that seven of the ten carriages of the train derailed
from the track.
"There are fears of loss of lives, we are trying to
get details," said Abdul Rehman, the chief controller of Pakistan Railways.
Trains with emergency service personnel have been
dispatched to the scene of the derailment from Lahore, Rehman added. Enditem
