GAZA, Jan. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- The Palestinian mainstream Fatah movement has decided to appeal the results of the Palestinian legislative elections in four districts in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, sources in the movement said on Sunday.

    The sources said that Fatah will appeal the election results in the West Bank cities of Ramallah, Selfeetm and Nablus and the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis.

    The decision came after final election results announced by the Palestinian Central Election Commission showed that Fatah won 45 seats in the 132-member Palestinian Legislative Council while the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) won 74 seats.

    On Jan. 25, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians headed to the polls across the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which were divided into 16 districts, in their first parliamentary ballot in a decade.

    According to the Palestinian electoral law, 66 members of the 132-seat legislature will be elected by districts while the remaining 66 chosen based on party lists. Enditem
