JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)Troika Ministerial Meeting started on Thursday in South African coastal town of Hermanus to prepare for an upcoming summit.

South African Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, the group's former chairwoman, hosted her counterparts from Malaysia, the current head, and Cuba, who will lead the movement next.

On the agenda at the two-day meeting is the future of multilateralism, the role of the Non-Aligned Movement, the future form of the United Nations and the promotion of international law.

A Foreign Ministry statement said the weekend talks would include economic and political ties, developments in the Middle East and Latin America, conflict resolution in Africa, disarmament, nonproliferation and arms control, including Iran's row with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The 114-member Non-Aligned Movement remains the largest political grouping of countries outside the United Nations.

It is not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc and represents mainly developing countries, but has become increasingly irrelevant in the globalized economy and regional trade pacts. Its next summit will be in September in Cuba. Enditem
