CANBERRA, Jan. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Amelie Mauresmo and Justine Henin-Hardenne reached the women's singles final at the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne on Thursday.
French third seed Mauresmo cruised into the final after newly-crowned world number one Kim Clijsters retired hurt in the third set.
Mauresmo will meet Belgium's Henin-Hardenne in Saturday's final after the eighth seed ousted Russian fourth seed Maria Sharapova.
Clijsters was forced to quit after twisting her right ankle with the scores at 5-7, 6-2, 3-2 in Mauresmo's favor.
Henin-Hardenne, the 2004 champion seeking her fifth Grand Slam title, beat Sharapova 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the first semifinal. Enditem |
