RAMALLAH, Jan. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- A member of the Palestinian ruling Fatah movement was killed by unidentified gunmen in the West Bank city of Nablus on Tuesday, Palestinian security sources and witnesses said.

The sources said that Yousef Joma Hasouna, 35, was shot in the head in heated argument with gunmen in the Rafedya neighborhood in Nablus.

The argument erupted as the gunmen tried to prevent Hasouna from hanging a poster of a Fatah candidate for Wednesday's legislative elections on a wall in Rafedya, said witnesses, addingthat the gunmen opened fire at Hasouna who refused to follow their demand.

The gunmen then fled the scene, witnesses added. Palestinian security sources said that Hasouna had quarreled with the same group of armed men in the past.

In a separate incident, a young Palestinian man was shot deadover a clan dispute in the Gaza City on Tuesday. An investigation into the killing was underway, police said. The two bloody incidents occurred just one day ahead of the Palestinian legislative ballot, underlining rising chaos in the Palestinian territories.
