Republic of Congo elected AU chairmanship for 2006

    KHARTOUM, Jan. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- The Republic of the Congo has been elected to chair the African Union, the 53-nation regional bloc, for the year 2006.

    Sudan is the vice chair of the AU for 2006, it was announced here on Tuesday. Sudan which is hosting the six AU summit has obtained the AU chairmanship for the next year. Enditem
