BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo and visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick Tuesday agreed that China-U.S. relations maintained "steady and positive" development momentum in 2005.
This accords with the common interests of both countries and has vigorously helped promoting peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and the rest of the world, they agreed at Tuesday's talks.
Both parties said that the upcoming visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to the United States is a "big event" in bilateral relations and is of great significance in fully promoting the constructive and cooperative partnership between the two countries in the new century.
China and the United States will make joint efforts, get all things ready, promote dialogue, exchange and mutual trust, properly handle relevant issues and ensure a sustained, healthy and steady development of the Sino-U.S. relations on the basis of the three Sino-US joint communiques.
Dai and Zoellick exchanged views on major international and regional issues of common concern in a "profound and constructive" manner. Enditem |
