ANHUI, Jan. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Highway and railway traffic in east China's Anhui Province have been greatly affected by a heavy snow which keeps falling on the province, local traffic department reported on Friday.

The province has issued three emergency warnings against heavy snows. By press time, the province is still under the yellow-level emergency warning, said sources with the provincial meteorological department.

The continuous snow has paralyzed two expressways which run through the province, and transportation in these sections was suspended.

It also held up 200 passengers at the long-distance bus station in Hefei, the provincial capital. They have been evacuated by now, said a staff member with the station.

To meet the needs of growing holiday goers, the bus station has added the number of coaches which are equipped with skid proof gadgets.

The snow is expected to end by Saturday, according to the provincial meteorological department. Enditem
