Officers involved in shooting Brazilian could all face charges

LONDON, Jan. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- All police officers involved in shooting Jean Charles de Menezes by mistake in last July could face charges, Sky TV reported on Thursday afternoon.

The television station quoted sources as saying that the possibility is very high, although so far no on knows how many officers are involved.

Earlier, the report into the fatal shooting the 27-year-old electrician was delivered to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The Brazilian was shot seven times in the head in a south London underground station by armed anti-terror officers when he was mistaken for a suicide bomber on July 22, one day after abortive bombings in London and two weeks after 52 innocent people were killed during suicide bombings in three underground stations and one double-decker bus.

Following the protest of de Menezes' family who requested the resignation of the commissioner of Metropolitan Police, the Independent Police Complaints Commission stepped in and conducted a six-month investigation into the incident.

The Commission will decide whether to bring criminal charges against any of the police officers involved.

So far there has been no comment from the prosecution service. Enditem
