PARIS, Jan. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- French Foreign Ministry said Friday that it was "premature" to speak of sanctions against Iran over its sensitive nuclear activities.

"The question of sanctions is premature," French Foreign Ministry spokesman Jean-Baptiste Mattei said.

Paris would "continue consultations" with Russia, China and its European partners on the issue, the spokesman said.

Officials from the European Union, the United States, China and Russia will meet over the Iran nuclear crisis in London on Monday, a European diplomat said Friday in Vienna.

On Wednesday Iran warned that reference of its program to the UN Security Council could force it to cut off contact with the EU group of three, which have been leading negotiations over Iran's atomic program since 2004. Enditem
