Urgent: Israeli FM hands in resignation

    JERUSALEM, Jan. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom on Friday handed in his resignation, the Ha'aretz daily reported on its website.

    During a meeting between Shalom and Likud Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu Thursday afternoon, Shalom agreed to hand in his letter of resignation on Friday.

    On Thursday morning, Education Minister Limor Livnat, Health Minister Dan Naveh and Agriculture Minister Yisrael Katz handed in their letters of resignation to Netanyahu, but Shalom refused, saying he would do so on Sunday. Enditem
