HANOI, Jan. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- A 30-year-old man, famous for his skillful and stylish ways of catching the ball in the 1990s, hanged himself, local newspaper New Hanoi reported Friday.

The former goalkeeper of the Hanoi Police Soccer Team, Do ThanhTon, was found dead at his parent's house in Hanoi capital on Thursday. Before his death, Ton seemed depressed, and drank a lot.

Ton's elder brother and his elder sister's husband are two notorious bookmakers in the city. His wife, an overseas Vietnamese, and their two children are residing in the Netherlands.

After quitting the soccer career five years ago, Ton became a driver and then a freelance.

Local police are investigating into his death. It is rumored that he either faced a family trouble or involved in soccer betting. Enditem
