BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- The Argentine government will make compensations to nearly 50 people affected by the violence that took place in Mar del Plata during the fourth Organization of  merican States (OAS) summit, government officials said on Thursday.

The government will spend some 350,000 pesos (about 115,000 U.S. dollars) compensating shopkeepers, business people and individuals who suffered personal injuries or damage to their property while violent activists demonstrated against the presenceof U.S. President George W. Bush on Nov. 4.

The money will reach the victims next week. The government had transferred the cash to the Treasury of the province of Buenos Aires, which on Thursday sent the money to Mar del Plata municipal government. Enditem
