XIAMEN, Jan. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- There were 26.34 million online games players last year, most of whom paid 30 to 50 yuan (about 3.7 to 6.2 U.S. dollars) per month to subscribe to online services from games providers, an annual report on China's online game industry disclosed here
Wednesday.
The report also showed that the majority of online games subscribers in
China were people aged from 19 to 25 last year.
Frequent legendary successes occurred in recent years such as Forbes listed
33 year-old Chen Tianqiao, who made profits from tens of thousands to billions
by selling commissioned online games.
However, the subscribers who made the legend happen are not much older than
Chen. One third of the total online games players were between 19 to 22 and
players between 23 to 25 accounted for 28.4 percent, the report said.
High school and college students make up 38.9 percent of the total online
games subscribers, according to the report co-released by State Press and
Publication Administration, Copyright Society of China and International Data
Corporation.
And 3.4 percent of the subscribers were minors younger than 16 years old,
who encountered most of the psychological problems in China, according to the
report.
The report also ascribed main purposes of the subscribers in playing online
games to recreation and pressure relief. Enditem |
