STOCKHOLM, Jan. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- The unemployment rate has fallen to 4.5 percent in Denmark, making the country with the second lowest unemployment figures in the EU members, Ritzau news bureau reported on Monday.
Recent figures from the EU's statistics bureau, Eurostat, found only Ireland had a lower percentage of unemployed workers with 4.3percent compared to Denmark's 4.5 percent.
The Netherlands takes a third place with 4.7 percent unemployed. The average unemployment figure in the EU, in contrast, is 8.5 percent.
Fewer than 150,000 Danes are unemployed, according to the latest survey.
The Confederation of Danish Industries attributed the low figures to Denmark's flexible labour market. Enditem
