BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman voiced China's strong indignation over the Japanese government's vile accusations upon a Japanese diplomat's suicide case at the Japanese Consulate General in Shanghai.

    In response to a reporter's question here Sunday about Japanese official's accusations over the suicide case in May last year, Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said the conclusion the Chinese side has drawn from the case is "valid" and "responsible".

    "Chinese police conducted lawful inquiries into the related officials at the Japanese Consulate General in Shanghai and confirmed the relevant facts when the case occurred," Kong noted, adding that the Chinese police still kept the files available and the signatures of Japanese officials.

    "We feel strongly indignant at the Japanese government's ignorance of the facts and vile action smearing China's image," Kong said.

    Shinzo Abe, Japan's top government spokesman, urged China last Thursday to "deal sincerely" with the suicide case with assertion that regrettable actions by local Chinese security authorities were behind the case. Enditem
