8 students killed in dormitory fire in Philippines

    MANILA, Jan. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- At least eight people were killed on Sunday in a student dormitory in Manila's university district, CNN reported.

    Four students were also injured in the blaze, which apparently started in the ground floor kitchen.

    News reports said many of the dead failed to rush out of the building after a night of drinking, and some were found near a fire exit. Suitcases and other belongings blocked exits, making it difficult for people to escape. Enditem
