TOKYO, Jan. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- A Japanese court has issued an arrest warrant for a U.S. Navy sailor in Japan who allegedly killed a Japanese woman in Kanagawa prefecture on Tuesday, the Kyodo News reported Saturday.
The arrest warrant was issued on robbery-murder charges. The Japanese government plans then to request the U.S. side to transfer custody of the 21-year-old suspect, William Reese, to the prefectural police, according to the report.
Reese has admitted to the Japanese police Friday to the killing of the 56-year-old Japanese woman Yoshie Sato. The serviceman is now confined at the U.S. naval base in Yokosuka, 45 km southwest of Tokyo, according to Japanese police sources.
If the United States agrees to the transfer, the police are expected to arrest the serviceman on Saturday, the report said. Enditem
