KABUL, Jan. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- At least 10 people were killed and 50 others
injured Thursday afternoon in a suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan's southern
province of Uruzgan, a local official said.
"This afternoon a suicide attacker, with explosives on his body, exploded himself
in a crowded place in Tirin Kot, the provincial capital of Uruzgan. Ten civilians
were killed in the explosion, 50others were injured including a policeman,"
Abdul Aziz, the deputy governor told Xinhua.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying a person from Uruzgan
carried out the suicide attack.
Taliban militants, from last year, began to use suicide bombings to attack
Afghan and foreign forces. Till now more than 10 suicide attacks have been
carried out by Taliban, which claimed the lives of dozens of people.
This is the most deadly suicide attack with the greatest loss of lives in Afghanistan since last year. Enditem |
