KABUL, Jan. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- At least 10 people were killed Thursday in a suicide attack in Afghanistan's southern province of Uruzgan, a local official said.
"Ten persons including some policemen and civilians were killed in a suicide attack this afternoon in Tirin Kot, the provincial capital of Uruzgan," Abdullah Jan, the provincial spokesperson told Xinhua.
The spokesperson did not give more details on the attack, and said an investigation is underway.
At the same time, Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying a person from Uruzgan carried out the suicide attack.
Taliban militants, from last year, began to use suicide explosions to attack Afghan and foreign forces. Till now more than 10 suicide attacks have been carried out by Taliban which claimed the lives of dozens of people. Enditem |
