BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has decided to
rectify the disordered motorcycle export market by monitoring the qualification
of motorcycle manufacturers in China.
Zhang Ji, vice director of the ministry's Mechanical & Electrical
Products Department, said here Wednesday that the ministry would issue a notice
on rectifying the motorcycle export market in the coming days.
Zhang said disordered competition in exporting motorcycles in recent years
has resulted in a low profit rate of one percent in the sector.
To protect the interests of both consumers and the manufacturers, the
Chinese government will enforce strict market entry qualification for domestic
companies to export motorcycles.
Management of the domestic motorcycle and components manufacturers will
also be strengthened in the future, said Zhang.
The ministry said motorcycles are listed as important export commodities in
China.
China ranked first in the world for the fifth consecutive year in exporting
motorcycles in 2005.
Statistics show that more than 7 million motorcycles were exported from
China to 185 overseas countries and regions in 2005,with an value exceeding 2.4
