BAGHDAD, Jan. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- A truck bomb went off near a police base on the main northern entrance to the Iraqi capital on Wednesday, killing three people and wounding 13 others, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

"An explosive packed truck rushed into a police base near the northern entrance to Baghdad in Kadhumiyah district and exploded at about 10:30 a.m. (0730 GMT)," the source.

The attack killed three people and wounded 13 others, including policemen, the source quoted initial police reports as saying.

Insurgents often attack Iraqi government employees and security forces in an attempt to cripple the US-backed political process in the country. Enditem
