Chronology of major floods, landslides in Indonesia

    JAKARTA, Jan. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Following are major floods and landslides that hit Indonesia over the last few years:     

    Dec. 11, 2002 -- A spring water resort in East Java packed withlocal tourists was suddenly swept by a flash flood coming from a nearby mountain, killing 26 people.

    Dec. 27, 2002 -- A landslide swept through a village on a slopeof a mountain in Lampung province on Sumatra island, leaving 10 dead.

    Nov. 3, 2003 -- A flash flood carrying thousands of logs ripped through a riverside tourist resort near a rain forest in North Sumatra province, leaving more than 200 people dead or missing.

    April 21, 2004 -- A landslide in the West Java town of Bandung killed 15 people and displaced 164 families.

    Feb. 21, 2005 -- Torrential rains triggered a landslide in a dump area in the West Java town of Cimahi. The rescue team evacuated 137 bodies and six more were still buried under tons of garbage.

    Jan, 1, 2006 -- Flashflood accompanied by a huge mudslide hit avillage on the slope of Argopuro mountain in the East Java town ofJember, killing 77 people and destroying hundreds of houses.

    Jan. 4, 2006 -- A rain-triggered landslide buried 102 houses inthe Central Java town of Banjarnegara, at least 200 people are feared dead in the disaster.
