NEW DELHI, Jan. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Lt. Gen. O.P. Nandrajog took over as the
general officer commanding in chief, Central Command, here on Sunday, according
to a press release issued Tuesday by India's Ministry of Defense.
Prior to this appointment, Nandrajog had been serving as general officer
commanding, 10 Corps in the Western Sector. He took over the job from Lt. Gen.
R. Subramanayam, who had retired from service.
Nandrajog was commissioned into the Brigade of the Guards in 1967.
He studied at the Defense Services Staff College, Wellington, and the
National Defense College, New Delhi.
The general had represented the country as Military, Naval and Air Attache
in Sweden.
He is rich in war experience, having seen actions during the 1971 Indo-Pak War
and commanded 121 (Independent) Infantry Brigade Group during the 1999 Kargil
War.
He is presently the "Colonel of the Regiment" of the Brigade of the Guards. Enditem |
