GAZA, Jan. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Militants of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) said they fired homemade rockets at southern Israel early Tuesday in retaliation for the killing of two commanders in an Israeli air strike in northern Gaza.
Saraya al-Quds, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, said in a statement that they launched 14 homemade rockets at Israeli territories.
The group said its militants fired 12 homemade rockets at Sderot and two at Sad military base in southern Israel. The group called on members and commanders in the Gaza Strip to remain on high alert for possible Israeli massacre.
Two Saraya al-Quds militants were killed and another seriously wounded Monday night after an Israeli aircraft fired two missiles at their car in the northern Gaza Strip.
Israeli army said the targeted militants were responsible for launching homemade rockets at Israel.
Israel resumed targeted killings of Palestinian militants after a suicide bomber from the Islamic Jihad killed five Israelis in the coastal Israeli city of Netanya early last month. Enditem |
