BERLIN, Jan. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- An unknown number of people were killed after the roof of an ice skating rink in southern Germany collapsed Monday under the weight of heavy snowfall.

    "We assume that some people are dead," the German news agency DPA quoted a Red Cross spokesman as saying.

    The rink is located at the town of Bad Reichenhall in southern Bavaria state.

    Police said rescue teams have been sent to the scene where a heavy snowfall may have caused the mishap and still hampers rescue effort by firefighters. Enditem
