FALLUJAH, Iraq, Jan. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Insurgents detonated three roadside bombs in two attacks in Iraq's flashpoint city of Fallujah on Monday, witnesses said.
"Two roadside bombs went off successively near a U.S. military patrol in al-Sad Street in southern the city, destroying two U.S. Humvees," the witness, a local journalist, told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Another roadside bomb also exploded in Fallujah's southern district of al-Shuhadaa, when a U.S. patrol was passing by, damaging a U.S. Humvee, added the witness.
However, it was not known whether there is any U.S. soldiers killed or wounded in the attacks, he said.
The Sunni-dominated Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, has witnessed sporadic insurgent attacks against the U.S. and Iraqi government forces despite U.S.-Iraqi military operations in the city to stamp out insurgency. Enditem |
