Annan condemns attack on UN facility in Gaza

    UNITED NATIONS, Jan. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Sunday condemned the recent attack on a UN recreational facility in Gala, and called on the Palestinian Authority to prosecute those responsible.

    In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Annan called on the Palestinian Authority "to take all possible steps to bring the perpetrators to justice, prevent such attacks from recurring, and ensure law and order."

    Unidentified assailants beat a local UN guard on Saturday night in Gaza City and detonated explosives which seriously damaged the premises. Enditem
