Italian hostage freed in Gaza

   GAZA, Jan. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- An Italian who was kidnapped by masked gunmen in the Gaza Strip was freed on Sunday, Palestinian security sources said.

   Alesandro Piero, a member of an EU delegation visiting the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Yunis, was in a good condition, the sources said.

   Earlier in the day, a group calling itself the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades-Sunni People said it was responsible for the kidnapping.

   Palestinian preventive security forces exerted efforts to help release the hostage. Enditem
