Militant groups pledge anti-Israeli attacks
www.chinaview.cn 2005-12-27 02:35:08

GAZA, Dec. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Three Palestinian armed groups vowed on Monday to carry out join attacks against Israel within the coming few days in response to Israel's building a security buffer zone in northern Gaza.

The Popular Resistance Committees, Saraya al-Quds, an armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, and al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed wing of the ruling Fatah movement, made the announcement at a news conference here.

The vow came after the Israeli government approved on Saturday a plan to build up a 10-km security buffer zone in northern Gaza to prevent Palestinian militants from firing rockets from the area.Palestinians will not be allowed to reach the buffer zone, which will be monitored by reconnaissance drones, helicopters, artillery and F16 warplanes, and anyone who reaches the area will be a target, the army said.

One masked spokesman of the three groups read from a leaflet at the news conference, which called on all Palestinian residents in the Gaza Strip to be careful of going to the area after Israel starts executing its security plans. "Any aggression on our people will be violently retaliated," the leaflet added. Enditem
