ZHONGSHAN, Guangdong, Dec. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- A restaurant caught fire on Sunday evening in Zhongshan City of south China's Guangdong Province, leaving 26 dead and 11 others injured.

More than 100 people were inside an illegally-opened bar of the Tandao Western-style restaurant in Tanzhou Township when the fire was broke out.

The bar was not equipped with any fire proof devices and the outlet is extremely narrow, which is difficult for people inside to disperse, said a government official.

As of Monday afternoon, the wounded are still hospitalized in the Zhongshan People's Hospital and investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. Enditem
