BAGHDAD, Dec. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Kidnappers threatened to kill a staff of the Jordanian embassy in Iraq unless Jordan releases a female suicide bomber involved in the triple bomb attacks that hit Amman in November, according to a video aired on Saturday by the al-Arabiya satellite channel.

The kidnappers, identifying themselves as "the Hawk Brigades", also demanded the Jordanian government to withdraw its diplomats in Iraq and cut all ties with the Iraqi government backed by the United States within three days, according to the channel.

The video showed the Jordanian hostage, a driver of the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad who was abducted on Tuesday, was sitting on the floor flanked by three armed men.

The hostage, named Mahmoud Suleiman Saidat, was shown reading from a statement listing his kidnappers' demands.

According to the statement, the kidnappers demanded Jordan to release Sajida al-Rishawi, a failed female suicide bomber who participated in the deadly triple bomb attacks on three luxury hotels in Amman that killed 60 people on Nov. 9.

Rishawi, who was detained by Jordanian security forces, later recounted the terror attacks in a televised confession.

There is no immediate word from the Jordanian government yet. Insurgents have targeted Arab diplomats in violence-plagued Iraq in the past, demanding Arab countries to cut ties with the U.S.-backed Iraqi interim government.

A top Egyptian diplomat and two Algerian diplomats were kidnapped and killed by the al-Qaida terror group in Iraq in July.Enditem
