MADRID, Dec. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- The Spanish government has agreed to give the
World Health Organization (WHO) some 2.4 million U.S. dollars to help the
organization's anti-bird flu programs, local media reported on Friday.
The WHO is developing international structures of support mostly to Asian
and African countries to halt the spread of the disease and help them adopt
measures to protect their people.
At the same time, Spain is giving some 1.2 million dollars to European
Union's research program to develop anti-Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
vaccines, as part of the European and Developing Country Trail Program whose
activities include research and development of technologies used to fight
malaria, tuberculosis and HIV. Enditem |
