BAGHDAD, Dec. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The trial of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein was adjourned on Thursday until Jan. 24, a court judge said.

Seven hearings have been held for Saddam from Oct. 19. During Thursday's hearing, Saddam said he was tortured by the US forces, accusing the US authorities as the "liar number one in the world."

"The White House are liars," Saddam said during the seventh session of his trial, which resumed on Thursday from an adjournment on Wednesday.

"I have been hit by the Americans and tortured," Saddam told the court on Wednesday, adding "I've been beaten on every place of my body and the signs are all over my body."

US officials strongly denied the allegations.

In Thursday's proceeding, the court heard testimonies from three witnesses. Enditem
