Sweden freezes aid to Uganda

STOCKHOLM, Dec. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Sweden is freezing 5 million dollars in aid to Uganda, because it is dissatisfied with democratic development in the country, Radio Sweden reported on Monday.

In a press release Sunday, Foreign Aid Minister Carin Joemtin said the decision does not, however, leave the citizens of Uganda to their fate.

Sweden is the fifth country, after Britain, Norway, Ireland and the Netherlands, to withdraw aid from Uganda. Enditem
