MADRID, Dec. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Fourteen Islamic
militants suspected of recruiting fighters to be sent to Iraq have been arrested
in Spain, police said on Monday.
The suspects were detained around Seville, Malaga and Nerja in the south, Lerida in the northeast and on the
Balearic Islands, police said.
Six men and one woman, suspected of belonging to a
group that funds Islamic terrorists, were arrested by Spanish police earlier
this month, and 11 people linked to the same group were arrested in November.
Since last year's bomb attacks on commuter trains in
Madrid, which left 191 people dead, Spain has been on alert against similar
attacks by Islamic terrorists. Enditem |
