BEIRUT, Dec. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- The Lebanese army on Saturday announced that it had found 25 cluster bombs in Kfar Hamam village along the borders with Israel, which were believed to have been dropped by Israeli warjets during raids on southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the army said that "in the framework of operations to find unexploded cluster bombs dropped by Israeli aircraft on the border region during its last aggression, the army found 25 cluster bombs."
Army bomb squads are defusing the bombs, said the statement, adding that a 155mm-calibre shell was also found in the same area.
According to the army, its troops are still searching the area for other possible duds and have warned the public against touching any suspicious objects.
However, the Israeli side denied the report, saying it did not use cluster bombs banned by the international law.
Also on Saturday, Lebanon's permanent delegation to the United Nations delivered a complaint to the world body on the Israeli land, sea and air space violations.
The violations on the Lebanese sovereignty reached 83 since the beginning of this month, December, said the complaint, adding in November, Israel violated the Lebanese sovereignty 92 times.
Lebanon called on the United Nations to shoulder responsibility towards halting the Israeli violations. Enditem |
