Thailand, Indonesia to share Tamiflu vaccines

     BANGKOK, Dec. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Thailand and Indonesia have mutually resolved to share vaccines against bird flu and promote assorted areas of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, according to the Thai News Agency.

    Deputy Government Spokesman Chalermchai Mahakitsiri announced Friday Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who is currently paying an official visit to Thailand, and Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra agreed to open shared storage of tamiflu vaccine for common use by the two ASEAN countries.

    The joint storage of tamiflu vaccines could assure they will beinsufficient supply for both countries in the future.

    Thailand and Indonesia plan to continually expand bilateral trade under ASEAN Free Trade Area dealings, which registered a 2004 trade volume amounting to 200.5 billion baht (4.9 billion US dollars), a 34 percent increase from the previous year, and promote joint investment as well as economic cooperation in variedsectors, including energy, fisheries and the tourist industry, thedeputy government spokesman said.

    The Indonesian Government had extended fishing concessions for Thai trawlers in waters of the archipelago state until next Sept.,while state-run oil firm PTT Pcl and other Thai firms will join Indonesian companies in efforts to develop alternative energy resources while Thailand's advances in bio-energy technology will be transferred to Indonesian personnel.

    Thaksin suggested Indonesian airlines increase flights to Suvarnabhumi international airport, scheduled to open next June, in an effort to promote a mutual tourism campaign. Enditem
