BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Young Chinese pianist
Lang Lang will give his first personal concert at the Great Hall of the People
in Beijing on January 17 next year, displaying his best known repertoire to the
6,000-strong audience.
"The concert in Beijing is the last yet most
important stop of my tour performance in China," Lang Lang said here Wednesday.
He flew to Beijing specially to attend a kick-off
ceremony for the ticket sales of the concert.
Lang Lang revealed that he will play some of his
favorite Chinese music pieces. He will also arrange a large multimedia display
screen on the stage so that audience in every direction can see his way of
playing.
In addition to his busy performing schedule in 11
Chinese cities, Lang Lang will also give a maestro class in musical schools.
Not long before, Lang Lang performed for US President
George W. Bush. Next year, he will be invited to perform at the opening ceremony
of the World Cup Football Games. "I will try to perform as many Chinese
masterpieces as possible at various occasions," hesaid.
Lang Lang began to learn piano at the age of 3 and
went to the United States at 15. He was the first pianist of Chinese origin who
signed a cooperative contract with the top five orchestras in the world
