Illegal CIA transfer of individuals evident: investigator

PARIS, Dec. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Information collected till now reinforced the credibility of the allegations of illegal transfer and temporary detention of individuals by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), an investigator probing the allegations said Tuesday.

Dick Marty, Swiss senator investigating into allegations of secret CIA prisons, made the remark when presenting his findings to a committee of the Council of Europe, the human rights watchdog in the continent.

He said the progressing legal proceedings in certain countries seemed to indicate that individuals had been abducted and transferred to other countries unlawfully by CIA.

But he added it was still too early to judge that there had been any member state of the European Union involved in illegal actions.

Marty has also criticized the United States' ambiguous attitude toward the allegations, saying U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice failed to give any concrete explanation on the alleged CIA prison on her recent visit to Europe. Enditem
