BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- An explosion rocked a central Athens post office close to Greece's Finance Ministry on Monday, causing some damage but no casualties, the Reuters reported citing a police official.

The ministry is located above a post office in the city's main Syntagma Square, about 100 metres from the parliament building. Both were closed at the time of the blast and a police official said: "There are no injuries to people passing by."

It was not immediately clear who was behind the blast.

The explosions scattered debris over a wide area, damaging the facade of the post office and blowing out windows along nearby streets.

Police said there were two warning calls to a Greek newspaper about half an hour before the explosion, saying a bomb had been placed near the Economy Ministry.

The police source said a bomb appears to have been planted on the back of a motorcycle that was left between the Finance Ministry and the post office. Enditem
