WARSAW, DEC. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Poland's prime
minister on Saturday announced a "detailed" probe into allegations that Poland
hosted secret CIA prisons.
"I am commissioning a detailed check in all places possible to precisely check if there is any proof that such an
event took place in our country," Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz said in remarks shown
on Polish television.
"It is necessary to finally close the issue because
it could be dangerous to Poland," he added.
The prime minister said Thursday Poland would fully
cooperate with an EU investigation into the allegations.
The European Council has asked Swiss lawmaker Dick
Marty to investigate the CIA's reported transportation of terrorist suspects
through European airports to secret CIA jails.
Poland and Romania have been identified by a New
York-based human rights group as countries hosting possible CIA prisons, but
both have denied any involvement. Enditem |
