BEIRUT, Dec. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- A bomb blast took place in east Lebanon Friday night and hit a car of Hezbollah official, police sources said.

According to the sources, the blast wrecked the car of the Hizbollah member in the ancient town of Baalbek, a stronghold of the pro-Syrian Hizbollah, or Party of God.

It caused no casualties and the man escaped unharmed, said the sources, adding the man had parked car and got out seconds before the bomb exploded.

Immediately after the explosion, Hizbollah issued a statement and accused Israel of carrying out the failed attempt.

"We blame the Zionist enemy for planning and executing this attack," said the statement, vowing to do "what is necessary" to defend itself.

But media reports said that Israel denied any its military involvement in the incident.

Since former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri was killed in a car bomb blast in Beirut in February, a series of mysterious bombings have occurred. But most of which targeted anti-Syrian journalists and politicians. Enditem
