XI'AN, Dec. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Five people were killed on the spot Thursday morning when a huge rock rolling down a hill slope hit a passing car on a highway in Shanyang County of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, the local traffic police source said Friday.

At 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Liu Deyun, a 38-year-old farmer from Pearl Village in Zhaochuan Town of Shanyang County, was driving along a hillside highway when a 200-cm huge rock suddenly rolled down and smashed his car, killing all five in the vehicle.

The dead included Liu, his wife, cousin, son and his mother. The tragedy is due to natural disaster, the investigators said. Enditem
