BRUSSELS, Dec. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- The success of Ukraine's aspiration for NATO membership would depend on concrete and measurable progress in reform, said NATO Secretary General Jaap deHoop Scheffer on Thursday.

"The Allies stress that NATO's door remains open to Ukraine," the NATO head said after a meeting between foreign ministers from the 26-nation alliance and Ukraine under the framework of so-called NATO-Ukraine Commission.

The NATO head said that the alliance would continue to help Ukraine in getting progress. "Our experts are having frank discussions on the political, economic, defense, military and legal aspects of membership obligations. Plenty of work to do, butthis is taking place," he told a press conference. Enditem
