RAMALLAH, Dec. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, an armed wing of the ruling Fatah movement, claimed responsibility on Thursday for stabbing to death an Israeli soldier at an Israeli army roadblock north of Jerusalem.
The group said in a leaflet sent to reporters that one of its members managed to reach Qalandia roadblock between Jerusalem and Ramallah in the West Bank and stabbed to death one Israeli soldier at the roadblock. Israel Radio quoting Israeli army sources as saying that a Palestinian from Jerusalem arrived at Qalandia roadblock, took out a knife and started to stab the soldier in the neck and chest.
The sources also said the assailant was arrested afterwards and taken to a police station in Jerusalem for interrogation.
The incident came as Israel resumed air strikes in the northern Gaza Strip on Thursday, killing three Palestinian militants, two of them from the armed wing. Enditem |
